Tips for Trainers

This WebQuest Workshop is designed to assist Teachers in constructing inquiry-based research projects that utilize the World-Wide Web as the main resource for gathering information.  The product of this workshop will be included in the teachers' portfolio to demonstrate personal and instructional proficiency in Technology.

Teachers will:

1. Employ tools of information literacy

• Search Techniques

• Criteria for evaluating validity of Internet resources

• Guides to proper citing of Internet resources

2. Learn basic Webpage design.

3. Meet California Standards for the Teaching Profession

4. Help meet California Induction Standards

5. National Education Technology Standards for Teachers

6. Design lesson units to help students meet

   • California Academic Content Standards
   • LAUSD Information literacy Standards for Students
   • National Education Technology Standards for Students

Materials Needed:

• Computers with Internet Access
• WebQuest Template  #1    #2    #3
• Webpage editor such as FrontPage or Netscape Composer, Word
• A concept mapping program such as Mind Manager or Inspiration would be useful.

• Resources and Guides for building the WebQuest projects.
