Process - Stage Two:
To create an interactive web-based lesson, ask yourself a few key questions:
- What does a good lesson call upon the students to do?
- How can the Internet facilitate this?
- What specific Web-sites can you point them to, to begin their learning?
- Once they have accessed the web-site, what do you want them to come away with?
- What will they do with the information they have gleaned from the web?
Once you have answered these key questions, you are ready to begin constructing your own WebQuest.
- Choose one of your lessons that you think will lend itself to be expanded with use of the Internet. See Selecting a WebQuest Project for ideas.
- If you have not already, select standard(s) around which to build your lesson.
- Use the WebQuest Pre-write to get you started.
- Download the WebQuest Template #1, #2 (You need to unzip this template. )
- Open each page in FrontPage (or any web editor) and follow the instructions to customize it with your own information. Your instructor will guide you in the use of the program. The program 'Help' files offer very good guides to using FrontPage if your instructor is not available at the time. You can also get online help using Dr.B's Cyber Homepage Tutorial
- Create a rubric to evaluate your students' projects.
- Review Mapping Your Thoughts.
- Include scaffolding tools to assist students through the process. Make use of Resources & Guides to help you create the best learning tool for your students.
- Be sure to require students to document all sources of information and graphics that they include in their project. EasyBib will help them develop a bibliography in proper MLA citation format.
- Review the Fine Points of your WebQuest and refine as needed.
- Share your WebQuest with a colleague for feedback.
