Notes for Teachers
This lesson was developed as a resource for Health and Safety in our
homes, school and
community. By making our students aware of safety needs, we make them more
prepared to meet emergencies.
Students will research ways to
prepare themselves in the event of emergencies and develop an emergency
preparedness plan. They will also prepare a public
awareness brochure to inform their families and community of their findings.
Learners
The lesson is anchored in High
School level Health and Life Skills. It is also useful as a community service
project for Student Leadership.
Prior to beginning this lesson,
students should have basic skill in word processing and in navigating the
Internet.
