The Process
Phase One:
How much do you know about keeping yourself and your
family safe? Take the
Emergency
Preparedness Exam with your team to determine how
much you know and how much you need to learn. This is a Boy Scout merit
badge exam. The questions are grouped according to types of emergencies.
Select the emergency situations that you are more likely to encounter in
your community, and quiz yourselves on those questions. Discuss this with your
team and determine what you NEED TO KNOW. Assign a specific research
task to each team member based upon your needs assessment.
Phase Two:
You and your team will generate questions to research in
order to learn what YOU can and should do in the event of
emergency, and formulate an emergency plan for your families. You may use the resources
listed, your school or community library and local agencies.
Prepare to interview someone from a local
agency such as Police
& Fire Depts. and Red Cross. Be sure to
manage
your time so that you are able to meet your deadline for completion.
Phase Three:
