We have witnessed the sad plight the victims of
Hurricane Katrina. This should be a wake-up call to each of us to plan for our
own safety since we may not be able to count on an immediate
or timely response from officials. California is a region prone to earthquakes,
brush fires, flash floods, land and mud slides. Add to that the threat
of terrorist strikes against America and impending pandemic of H1N1 influenza, and we have much reason to prepare
ourselves for survival in the event of disasters, be they natural or man made.
