Process

Phase One: (Individually)

Before beginning, you should examine Clarifying What You Value and decide what is important to you.

Phase Two: (As a Team)

With your team, review the resources for ideas to determine what types of decisions are needed at each phase of our lives.  (health, friends & relationships, career, marriage, family, finances, politics, religion, insurance, health care, will, etc.)

Using a Circle Map for each stage,  brainstorm on important decisions for each phase of life.

Phase Three: (Individually)

Once you have determined at least four important areas for decisions at each phase of life...

Bubble Map.

Each member of your team will select a life stage to research. You may use the  resources to help learn about choices to consider. Describe the important decisions of your selected life stage and three possible choices.

Use a flow map to show where each possible choice may lead. Then make a decision.

Flow Map

Consider how you made your decision.

  • Did you explore several options?
  • What criteria did you base your selection on?
    • Was it just random?
    • Did you research the issue?  What sources did you use?
    • Did you evaluate your sources for authenticity?
    • Did you ask for advise? From whom?

Multi-flow Map

Consider the causes and effects of your decisions. Think about what might happen because of your decision. Then show how the effects of your decision may impact your life and your family.

Evaluate decisions you  have made

Phase Four: (As a Team)

Use your own or your teacher's BLOG (if permitted) for your team to discuss the necessary areas of decisions at each stage of life.  Discuss the possible options and reach a team consensus as to the best decisions.

Multi-flow Map

Combine your multi-flow map with those of your team mates to show the consequence of your decisions and determine the impact on the next phase of life.  Show how these consequences influence new decisions.

Explain how your choices can affect where you’ll end up on the Health-Illness Continuum.  What decisions are needed for each state on this continuum?

Phase Five:

Finally you will make a plan for your life based upon what you have discovered and the decisions you have made.  Write up your life plan including any documents necessary to substantiate what you have decided for your life.  Discuss your plan with your family.
