 ORAL PRESENTATION GUIDE

First the whole group reads and discusses the first chapter or two of the book. After which each student is assigned a chapter to read and prepare an oral report to be presented to the class.

The following checklist is to serve as a guide in preparing for your oral presentation:

1. Read the assigned chapter.

2. Make up five (5) questions of your own to ask your classmates after you have presented your report.

3 Select eight new words from the chapter and create a flashcard for each word.   See the following example:

4. List the characters in your chapter, and tell who they are and what they do.

5. Identify the setting (Where and when do the events of this chapter take place?)

6. What is the main problem for the characters, and how do they solve it?

7. Make a timeline of the six (6) most important events in the chapter.

8. Create a storyboard from the events listed on your timeline.

9. Create an Open Mind to show the thoughts and feelings of one of the characters.

10. Use the Venn Diagram to show how two characters are alike and how they are different.

11. Click on the map below, and locate the city of Hannibal Missouri. Then find it on the globe in your classroom, and Tell the longitude and latitude of the city.

This checklist is to be submitted along with all of your papers and drawings after you have made your presentation.
