Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a civil rights
leader in the 1960's, had a vision for humanity that we would all live in
peace and judge one another not by the color of our skin, but by the content of
our character. With this vision, he led the struggle against racism, segregation
and injustices. With this dream, he fought to abolish
Jim Crow laws which denied basic human rights and services to African
Americans in the Southern United States. With his vision of humanity, Dr. King led
the struggle to allow Black people to sit in the front of a bus, to eat at any
lunch counter, to attend desegregated schools, to register and vote, and to
receive medical services. With his vision for humanity, Dr. King led
protests against discrimination of all kinds.
Dr. King's dream has echoed throughout the
world to bring awareness to all human beings that we are our brother's
keepers.
This WebQuest leads us to reflect
upon the dream that Dr. King had, his actions on our behalf and the echoes of
the Civil Rights Movement that still impact our lives today.
