The Process

Forming  Your Team:

  1. First you'll be assigned to a team of 4 students.
  2. You will draw cards to determine which culture will be the focus of your research. (Each must be a culture other than your own.)
  3. Together as a team you will come up with ten key questions that you feel are important in understanding one's culture.
  4. Each person will conduct the research in order to answer these ten questions.

Collecting Resources:

One resource for each culture is provided to get your started, However, you will need a search strategy to find at least two more appropriate Internet resources. You will also need to locate some images that represent the experience of your culture topic.  As you conduct your search, keep in mind the ten questions you must answer. Be sure to document the source of all information and graphics that you glean form the Internet.

Creating Your Poster:

Once you have gathered all of the answers to your questions and several images representing each culture, you will use a desktop publishing program to create a 18" x 24" poster of interlacing circles to compare and contrast the various cultures.

Within each circle is a space for celebrating the uniqueness of the culture.  Wherever the circles overlap, we celebrate our commonality by placing a symbol that represents what the respective cultures hold in common.
