Introduction

The AMISTAD was a Spanish schooner used in the Atlantic slave trade.  The film presents a graphic depiction of the despicable conditions under which Africans were held captive and sold into slavery.  As you view the film you will learn about the slave revolt on board the Amistad and the subsequent trials that led all the way to the United States Supreme Court.   You will be called upon to analyze the plot of the film, to participate in an online debate and to gather enough pertinent information from the Internet to construct a timeline of significant events in this case.
